After the Lyriq and the Celestiq, Cadillac confirms the arrival of a third model in its range of 100% electric vehicles. This is the Optiq, a compact luxury SUV that will join the General Motors family as a 2025 model.
Although Cadillac’s announcement about the Optiq is only a few lines, it contains valuable information. Firstly, the American manufacturer mentions that its new SUV will be positioned below the Lyriq in its lineup. In concrete terms, this could mean that the model will also be more affordable, which is excellent news considering that the starting price of the Lyriq is $69,825.
It must be admitted that the Cadillac Optiq has a stunning appearance with a front end as imposing as it is elegant. Where the typical aesthetic signature of the brand’s electric models is evident is at the rear. The SUV features ultra-modern lighting, as well as shapes and design elements similar to those found on the Lyriq. Ultimately, the Cadillac Optiq will be a very eye-catching model that promises to turn heads wherever it goes.
China first
China is the first market where the new 100% electric SUV from the American manufacturer will be presented. Production of the model is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
The rumor mill
Some media outlets claim that the Optiq could eventually replace the Cadillac XT4, which has not been confirmed by the American manufacturer, of course. Several sources suggest that the Optiq will use the same platform as the Chevrolet Equinox EV. Thus, it might be expected to inherit the same powertrains. As it is a high-end product, one might anticipate that the Optiq will forgo the single electric motor version to focus on the two-motor configuration. The latter boasts a total power of 290 horsepower, and it’s expected to have a range of around 500 kilometers on a full charge.
For now, that’s all we know about this new 100% electric model from Cadillac. The manufacturer mentions in its statement that additional information will be revealed next year, including the model’s price range. Needless to say, this is a model that many are eagerly anticipating.
